One of the movies to keep an eye out for this summer is the young adult-oriented romantic drama “The Fault in Our Stars,” with Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort as leads. To play cancer-stricken Hazel, Shailene had to cut her long brown hair into a bob, and the experience was quite an emotional one.

The video below, released by MTV with the purpose of drumming up interest in the movie, shows Shailene at the hair salon, as she’s getting the haircut for the role. As the stylist begins to cut, she’s seen covering her face with her hands.

Later on, when she removes the hands, you can see that she’s been crying heavily, like many women tend to do whenever they cut their long locks, for whatever reason.

Myself, I never cried when I cut my hair, no matter its original length. Then again, I never had Shailene’s healthy, thick, and luscious hair: as you can see, the stylist parts it in four and still has some trouble cutting through each ponytail. I am experiencing a major case of hair envy right now.

Then again, it’s all for art. In “The Fault in Our Stars,” Shailene plays a teen battling cancer, who has pretty much given up on life because of her diagnosis. That is, of course, until she meets Augustus.

If you’re into tearjerkers of this kind, make sure you leave June 22 open, to go and see it.
