The Chinese Teclast T59

Some of you will probably call it a blasphemy, some of you may give me a round of applause but, whatever the consequences, I want to say one thing: out with the "iPhone clone" thing, in with the gorgeous looking and extremely appealing touchscreen cellphones and concept design.

Although the Teclast T59 is not a cellphone you can touch (for now), it surely is a breathtaking concept mobile phone. I know most of you will jump out of their chairs and yell as loud as they can pointing to their monitor's screen "Cloooone! It is just a clone duuude!!" (if I got out of line here, don't hesitate to send me an e-mail saying it or even sue me if you think I offended you in some manner :D ), I know that, but bear with me and just follow my lead to understand why I'm not incriminating them of such things.

As far as it is known at the moment, the T59 will feature a Windows Mobile operating system, 3G connectivity, GPS, Wi-Fi and FM radio, a large and impressive VGA screen, a bonus secondary display carefully tucked away into the top edge of the phone and, as you can also see, a glossy black colored body.

I have to insist here and say these are not at all the end specs you'll have on the final product, if and when it will get to be mass produced. To be more exact, nothing we know about it is for sure, apart from the things we can guess from the pictures available on the web.

There is another thing we can't be sure of and this, my friends, will make you understand exactly why I said at the beginning we can call it straightforward an iPhone clone. At the moment, even its cellular capabilities are under questioning, so comparing it with any other device is just a loss of time. The only thing one can do is just think about it as a one of a kind, good looking device with no known features.

From what the sources I found on the Internet are suggesting, we can even consider it to be an advanced MP3 player of some sort due to Teclast being known as a multimedia entertainment device manufacturer.

Returning to not calling it an iPhone clone idea and to the iPhone clone tagging mania getting all over the place these days, let me ask you something: does anyone accuse LG of making a clone of the Samsung candy-bar cellphone just because they built their handset in a candy-bar form factor? I don't think so and, as things have evolved in this area, we should apply the same theory when talking about cellphones without any type of mechanical interface and having only touchscreen Uis.

In conclusion, let's just not think about Teclast copying anyone and just enjoy the looks of the handset their team designed. Until we'll find out other details about its spec sheet, just sit back and watch every other mobile phone manufacturer that hasn't done it yet, launching a touchscreen only UI cellphone.

I'm still waiting for the Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola and others like them to show us what is their approach of this kind of handset.
