Apple has posted a Support document detailing the particularities of its latest Software Update, Server Admin Tools version 10.5.7. A summary of the release, as well as a few important notes and the latest changes are detailed in the article.

Apple often uses its Support section to post the lengthier release notes for some of its software applications, which includes the hefty 65.62MB Server Admin Tools 10.5.7 released earlier this week. While the changelog was still unavailable hours into the 10.5.7 update release, the company behind the Mac operating system now outlines the following aspects about the latest version of its Server Admin Tools.

Server Admin Tools 10.5.7 contain remote administration tools, documentation, and utilities that you can install on a computer other than your server. This version requires Mac OS X 10.5.7 and is required to administer Mac OS X Server version 10.5.7 remotely. The Server Admin Tools 10.5.7 are available as an automatic Software Update for Macs running Mac OS X 10.5.7 with version 10.5 or later of the Server Admin Tools already installed, and as a manual download from Apple Support Downloads.

The company also makes an important note, saying that, “If you have moved any of the Server Admin Tools out of their original locations (inside /Applications/Server/), the update may continue to appear in Software Update even after you have installed it.” If this happens, “return the Server Admin Tools to their original location before using Software Update, or remove any duplicate copies of the Server Admin Tools,” Apple advises Mac users.

A full list of improvements carried out for Server Admin, Server Preferences, System Image Utility and Workgroup Manager can be found over at Apple's Support section, here.

Along with the 10.5.7 improvements, Apple notes that the latest Server Admin Update also includes the changes to Server Admin, Server Monitor (Server Admin Tools 10.5.6 v1.1) and System Image Utility introduced with Server Admin Tools 10.5.6 (released just last month).

In the same manner, the improvements delivered in Server Admin Tools 10.5.3 and Server Admin Tools 10.5.5 were included in the 10.5.6 release. As such, simply updating to Server Admin Tools 10.5.7 will apply the complete set of changes and improvements to the Server Admin Tools since the software was originally released.
