3Guppies, formerly known as Mixxer, announced the launch of a widget for MySpace that allows users to send pictures and videos from MySpace directly to the mobile phone. The service is compatible with virtually every data-capable phone and works on all major mobile carriers in U.S.

"We saw a clear opportunity to apply our unique capabilities and offer users something that wasn't available before. The 3Guppies widget fills a void and enables users to download the pictures and videos that make up the bulk of the content on social networks right to a cell phone," said John Dearborn, CEO of 3Guppies. "We aim to make it as easy to share media on a mobile device as it is online. The 3Guppies brand is more fitting to all kinds of mobile media, and reflects what the experience ought to be: fun and simple - something anyone can do."

To use the service provided by 3Guppies, consumers only need to copy the code for the Mobilizer Widget available on the company's website and paste it into a webpage, such as a MySpace profile. This will place a button on the webpage that, upon pressing, will offer the users the choice of sending any of the pictures and videos on that page to the cell phone. 3Guppies offers different layouts for the buttons embedded into webpages, each one requiring a different code to be pasted. Users can choose from several widget styles here, with the default design being available here.

The use of service does not require any kind of software installation or application download, and doesn't involve any registration process. Dearborn explained: "Imagine if you wanted to send email and you not only had to sign up for an account, but also had to know the recipient's ISP and brand of PC in order for your message to be delivered. That's where the mobile experience was up until today. Now, all someone needs to tell us is the phone number to send it to."

3Guppies is offering its Mobilizer Widget for free and users who download pictures and videos to their cell phones only have to pay for the data traffic rates incurred by their mobile operator. "As long as a customer has messaging capability and a data plan, it's not going to cost them anything to use 3Guppies," said Dearborn. "We envision the service being ad-supported, as our audience continues to expand. Until then, 3Guppies is focused on providing the best user experience possible when it comes to mobile media."
