Intel plans on cutting prices in July

AMD has published the list of prices for the Sempron processors, including the 64 bit Socket-754 processors. AMD Taiwan has indicated that Socket-A models are more expensive than the Socket-754 ones in the price list because it hopes to accelerate the transition between the architectures.

The AMD Socket-754 32 bit processor are $9-10 cheaper than the Sempron Socket-A. Moreover, the difference between 64 bit Sempron processors and the 32 bit Sempron processors is only $3-6.

Although currently, the prices for the 64 bit Celeron from Intel are higher than the ones for 64 bit Semprons, it seems that after July 24, when the chip giant has scheduled a price drop, things will change.

For example, an AMD Sempron 3000+, 64 bit enabled, costs $98, while its Celeron 64 bit D equivalent, will cost after the price cut $89. (The prices mentioned before are available only for 1,000 unit lots)
