Paradox Interactive has officially confirmed that the Semper Fi expansion for Hearts of Iron 3, its grand strategy real time title, will be launched on June 6 this year, the same day that Allied forces reached the beaches of France during World War II in the biggest amphibious invasion in history. Those who are interested in getting the expansion will need to use digital distribution services like GamersGate, Impulse or Steam, as a boxed launch is not planned at the moment.

The date is well suited for the launch of Semper Fi, as one of the main aims of the new content is to deliver a better experience when it comes to the naval elements of the World War II sandbox and improve the way the Artificial Intelligence handles attempts to assault the Nazis in Europe and to island hop its way to Japan on the Pacific Theater of war. Many fans of the series pointed out that the original launch of Hearts of Iron 3 handled this issue poorly and Paradox claims to have fixed all the problems in the new expansion.

There are other improvements packed in Semper Fi. Each player will be able to choose nation specific victory conditions at the start of the game, allowing those who play minor nations to set achievable goals and keep their opponents on their toes. There is also a better level of cooperation between Allied nations, allowing the player to choose a target for the forces of those who support them and focus the efforts of all the countries working together.

There are also new events meant to offer more World War II flavor in Semper Fi, with the Artificial Intelligence also getting a makeover supposed to render it better at defending in depth as the Soviets and at guarding its coastal area as Nazi Germany.
