Since everything Kardashian-related translates into ratings gold, FX is rushing to capitalize on the phenomenon, with a new series on the controversial O.J. Simpson murder trial. The attorney who got Simpson off the hook after he was accused of double murder was Robert Kardashian Sr., Kim Kardashian’s late father and Kris Jenner’s first husband.

“American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson” will air on FX later this year, and it already has a cast that should, in itself, make you consider giving it a chance, at the very least.

John Travolta stars as defense attorney Robert Shapiro, while David Schwimmer, aka Ross Gellar from “Friends,” will appear as Kardashian. Cuba Gooding Jr. will play the disgraced athlete.

Deadline confirms that FX has also found the show’s Kris Jenner, who, at the time, was still happily married to Kardashian and was good friends with Simpson and his slain wife, Nicole.

“American Crime Story” will focus not so much on the Kardashian empire, such as we know it to be today, after years of reality television and relentless media coverage, but on the machinations behind the most scandalous celebrity trial of modern times, particularly the strings and the deals the lawyers pulled and made.

The series, of which only 10 episodes have been ordered so far, is based on a script by Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander, while Ryan Murphy serves as executive producer.
