No, really, he hits guys and gals until they turn black and blue, says the beatings chase illnesses out of them

Hongchi Xiao, a self-proclaimed healer in China, cures the guys and gals who come to see him by slapping them around until they turn black and blue all over.

He says that, as shocking as it might seem to inexperienced folks, his treatment actually works. Apparently, the bruises he leaves on his patients' skin are a sign of illnesses leaving their body.

This practice goes by the name of paida lajin. Hongchi Xiao learned its secrets from a Taoist monk and argues that it can cure conditions like diabetes and hypertension.

The supposedly scientific explanation

The self-proclaimed healer explains that the practice of paida lajin is based on the idea that abusing the body by hitting it and stretching the skin makes blood vessels expand.

In turn, this widening of the blood vessels helps energy flow freely through the body and makes it easier to flush out toxins. When the toxins causing their symptoms are cleared, patients start feeling better.

Sure, they are left with some seriously nasty-looking bruises on their back and their limbs, but this seems like a small price to pay to be healed of potentially life-threatening diseases.

“The slapping and stretching work together to clear the meridians of blocks and help the body get rid of the disease,” Hongchi Xiao explained his healing technique, as cited by Oddity Central.

The man claims to have cured hundreds of people suffering from all sorts of conditions, among them a 8-year-old child diagnosed with severe kidney failure.

Since it doesn't take a lot of expertise to inflict a bruise or two here and there, Hongchi Xiao recommends that people who don't have the time or money to come to see him start hitting themselves.

This should do the trick and expand their blood vessels just enough for their body to be rid of toxins and for them to have a more positive attitude in life.

Of course, accidents can happen

About a week ago, on April 28, a 7-year-old boy named Aidan was found dead in a hotel room in the city of Sydney in New South Wales, Australia. It just so happens that this boy died shortly after having attended one of Hongchi Xiao's workshops.

The boy was suffering from diabetes and appears to have passed when failing to take his recommended dose of insulin. This has not yet been confirmed, but voices say that his parents no longer treated his diabetes because they believed him cured.

An investigation is ongoing and law enforcement officers hope to learn more about the circumstances that led to Aidan's death. As for healer Hongchi Xiao, he has not yet made any comments on this incident.
