More mature fun for the Wii

The Nintendo Wii is one of the most popular consoles currently on the market, with much of this popularity being owned to the fact that it has a big variety of casual titles that attract small children and players who don't necessarily have experience with video games.

But the needs of hardcore gamers have also been satisfied in a way, as some companies have decided to bring quality mature entertainment to the small white Japanese console. Sega is the latest one to do so, with the help of two titles, House of the Dead: Overkill, which has been recently “honored” with the title of being the most profane game, and MadWorld.

The glorious black and white action game has been selling quite well, as stated by Sega Marketing Vice President Sean Ratcliffe. He talked with Venture Beat and offered some interesting sales results about the two games. “House of the Dead has done very well and has absolutely met our expectations. The first set of data for MadWorld is very encouraging, as well.”

He also went on to say that if the reaction of fans was positive, then they would get to see the main character of the game, Jack, return in future installments filled with even bigger amounts of blood and gore. “If it resonates with the audience, yes, we absolutely want to make that into a franchise. I think it's unique, and there are many aspects of that game which are sort of pushing boundaries.”

MadWorld has received a lot of positive reviews for its unique style, but, sadly, it has scored pretty low on innovation, as the gameplay has become a bit repetitive after the first few levels. It is, however, one of the few quality titles available for the Nintendo Wii and has gained quite a lot of fans due to its gameplay mechanics.

What do you think? Would a MadWorld franchise be something positive? Or is it better just the way it is and needs no new things or a follow-up for the story? Leave us a comment with your opinion.
