Whoever is a music fan wants to know when and where their favorite bands are holding concerts. It is not very difficult to keep track of only one group, but if someone's music preferences swing between rock, jazz and minimal, quite a few interesting concerts could pass unnoticed.

AOL seems to know how important music and live performances are nowadays. Therefore, AOL Music has just launched a new website to come in handy for those who want to have at least a summary of the music tours of their favorite artists. The Tour Tracker was not designed only for users. As the representatives of AOL themselves say in a press release, music industry agents can see, according to people's displays of interest towards a show, what the current level of the popularity and reputation of an artist is. As people have the possibility to comment, rate or ask for some custom concerts to be held, this evaluation is easily made.

"Tour Tracker provides music fans an ongoing outlet to follow and discuss an artist throughout a tour or simply find comprehensive listings for which artists - mainstream or indie - are playing in one's hometown on any given night." AOL Music Vice President Bill Crandall says, as a way of describing the online database.

Fans have the possibility of tracking bands which are already on tour, as well as of seeing all the concerts held on one particular day. For those who have American Express cards, discounts to their favorite shows are available, courtesy of the same website. AOL also thought of those who have to travel for miles to meet their idols, by offering them directions and specific maps of the surroundings.

Nonconformists that are not too fond of established, mainstream celebrities are offered information about jam sessions and other small-scale performances. The only problem that is already plain is that only Americans can benefit from the concert details. The website stops at giving news and tracking locations only within the U.S.
