This is one of the coolest ideas I've seen in a long time

Some people are fortunate enough to get all the imagination in the world. Like Robert Howsare, who has recently posted a video of what he calls a “drawing apparatus.” His contraption is a wooden construction, attached to two turntables at one end, and a pencil at the other.

The idea is very simple – set the discs spinning at different RPM (rotations per minute), and create a crisscrossing support structure for the pencil. The difference in speed between the two plates is amplified by the design of the wooden arms, and so the path the pencil takes on a sheet of paper is never the same.

The drawing looks like the result of some complex mathematical functions, primarily because it is. In any case, watching the nifty apparatus in action is something else. What do you think about Howsare's idea?
