Star Wars: The Old Republic might not be out yet but the leading developers working on the MMO are already thinking about its long term future and what features the BioWare team needs to add in order to keep gamers interested in paying their monthly subscription.

James Ohlen, who is the game director working on Star Wars: The Old Republic, stated, “It is fair to say that we’re just as excited as you are about the launch of Star Wars: The Old Republic.”

He added, “Not only are we launching one of the largest and most impressive games ever created, but we’re also excited about the prospect of continuing to work on the game so that you, the fans, will always have something heroic and amazing to enjoy.”

Specific buildings, like a bank and a capitol, will be implemented for in-game guilds and a number of group based missions are also in development.

BioWare also plans to launch more solo content and a number of Warzones that are destined for Player vs. Player content.

After Star Wars: The Old Republic is launched the developers will also pay attention to feedback coming from gamers in order to deliver changes and customization options to the game interface.

The developers also have a special project under development, which is said to be able to extend the gameplay possibilities of the MMO in dramatic fashion and will be officially unveiled during the first few months of 2012.

Star Wars: The Old Republic will be the biggest MMO launch of the year, although it is arriving pretty late, on December 20 and a number of analysts are expecting the game to challenge the dominant position of the Blizzard made World of Warcraft.

The game has mechanics that are familiar to MMO players but adds an extra layer of BioWare designed story on top of that.
