Green group Sea Shepherd, whose members and supporters are in the business of promoting marine animal protection, is getting ready to roll out a vegan cookbook that it hopes will inspire people to embrace a more eco-friendly diet.

The book is to be called “Think! Eat! Act! A Sea Shepherd’s Vegan Cookbook,” and will have over 190 pages, the conservationists say.

Apart from the fact that it will feature some 80 vegan recipes that the organization maintains are utterly delicious, the cookbook will include opinion pieces detailing what Sea Shepherd calls its vegan ideology.

Besides, “Think! Eat! Act!” will offer people a glimpse into the life of these conservationists, and will provide information concerning several vegan activists campaigns around the world.

By the looks of it, the vegan recipes that will be presented in this book have all been tried by the conservationists while taking part in various anti-whaling initiatives.

“Think!, Eat!, Act! is a cookbook featuring the vegan food prepared on the Sea Shepherd ships' anti-whaling campaigns and written by one of the chefs,” the organization explains.

“Inspired by the Sea Shepherd's goal of protecting the animals that are victims of human cruelty, this book uses delicious vegan food to show readers that every action has a consequence, and that you can live both well and compassionately, even while facing the challenges of being an activist living on a ship,” it further details.

The organization adds that the book will be full color, and that it will be printed at a worker-owned print shop in Illinois.

Sea Shepherd hopes that this will somewhat counter the fact that most books of this kind are presently printed in China, a status quo which the activists think has a negative impact on American jobs and labor conditions.

The trouble is that, according to the organization, this book will cost about $10,000 (€7,183) to make. The conservationists have some of the money, but need ordinary folks to help them raise $3,000 (€2,155).

To this end, Sea Shepherd has launched a Kickstarter campaign intended to obtain said sum by April 20. Despite the fact that this fundraising initiative has over 30 days left to go, people have already donated over $4,000 (€2,873).

One can only assume that this is because there are quite a lot of folks in this world who are interested in learning what Sea Shepherd activists feast on while battling whalers.

Donations are to be accepted until the campaign closes, so those who want to help Sea Shepherd launch its vegan cookbook can still get behind this project.
