Angry because fish stocks have plummeted, fishermen take it out on the sea lions

The Columbia River in California used to be the place where millions of salmons would come to breed, but severe overfishing and the construction of around 400 dams on the said river drastically altered this status quo.

With very few fish swimming around, the fishermen trying to make a living on the Columbia's River banks, who pretty much played their part in decimating the salmon population, now find themselves unable to carry on with their usual trade.

Interestingly enough, rather than taking responsibility for their own actions, the fishermen decided to blame the sea lions and let go of their frustrations by killing them.

Thus, about 20 dead sea lions, each with gun-shot wounds, popped up in the area throughout the course of the last two months.

From where we stand, killing the sea lions was completely uncalled for and we hope that the authorities will take appropriate measures.
