Japanese cooling expert Scythe has officially announced the introduction of a special version of the Ninja 3 processor cooler, which was developed with the aim of creating a silent operating solution capable of chilling high-performance processors.

While the regular Ninja 3 version comes with a PWM-controlled fan operating in a range from 470 to 1.900RPM, the new Ninja 3 Silent Version is equipped with a Slip Stream 120mm fan.

This is designed to spin constantly at 800RPM, enabling it to generate only 10,70 dBA of noise when running. At this speed, the fan is capable of delivering 40,17CFM of airflow.

Outside of the new fan, Scythe has kept modifications brought to the Silent Version to a minimum as the heatsink has remained unchanged from the regular Ninja 3.

This means that it still uses a complex design with eight copper heatpipes to draw the heat away from the CPU and into a massive aluminum fin array.

Ninja 3 Silent Version covers all current, and previous CPU sockets such as Intel socket LGA775, LGA1155, LGA1156, LGA1366 as well as AMD socket 754, 939, AM2, AM2+, AM3, 940, including the newly introduced AM3+ and FM1 motherboards.

Since the cooler weights no less than 1,04Kg, Scythe is bundling it with the so-called Flip Mount Super Backplate 2 (F.M.S.B.2), which assures a safe fit by using a backplate and screw mounting system.

The rest of the retail package includes a pair of fan clips, all the required mounting accessories and some high-performance thermal grease.

The Ninja 3 Silent version (part number SCNJ-3000-SV) will be available on the market as of September 2nd 2011 with a recommended price tag of 37,90 EUR, which doesn't include VAT or any other taxes.
