Some PC cases have 3.5-inch drive bays that can be accessed from the front, much like 5.25-inch ODD bays.

It is those PCs that Japanese cooling expert Scythe is aiming for, having launched a product not part of its normal routine for once.

Said product is called Scythe Kama Reader USB 3.0 and is, in short, a memory card reader that connects to motherboards via the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface.

Kama Reader USB can read CompactFlash, Microdrive (SD/SDHC/SDXC), Memory Stick (PRO, ROM, Duo, PRO Duo), MicroSD (SDHC, SDXC) and Memory Stick Micro storage devices.

It measures 102 x 25 x 123 mm / 4.02 x 0.99 x 4.84 inches and can connect to mini-SD, mini-SDHC, MMC-Micro, and RS-MMC, provided customers get a special adapter (not included).

Kama Reader USB 3.0 has a price of €18 / $28.
