Screenshots published by WindowsMania.pl reveal some of the improvements that will be part of what seems to be the next Windows 10 for phones preview build coming out this week.
First and foremost, there’s a new app switcher that shows up to four thumbnails on the same screen and thus makes it easier to work with multiple apps at the same time. A similar system is being used right now by BlackBerry for OS 10, and it’s working really effectively for better productivity.
At the same time, there seem to be new options for messaging that allow users to send MMS if data is disabled, as well as a new screen to configure time and date.
Improved one-hand usability
Since the Lumia 1520 phablet is one of the devices that will get the next Windows 10 for phones preview, Microsoft worked to make the device easier to use with one hand. As presented at the January 21 Windows 10 event in Redmond, there’s a new floating keyboard that allows users to type with just one hand. This feature is available in the next build, the leaked screenshots suggest.
The Mail app is also getting a number of improvements, including more layout and customization options that enable users to change the color of the text, clear formatting, use bullets or numbering.
The next Windows 10 for phones technical preview is also expected to come with a testing version of the upcoming Office Touch productivity suite, which will be offered free of charge and pre-installed on all devices running the upcoming operating system.
