As his latest film “Valkyrie” is winning over critics, contrary to initial expectations, it seems that actor Tom Cruise is having a rough time from opponents of Scientology. Because of Tom’s portrayal of a Nazi officer in his latest flick, but also due to his religious beliefs, several groups have targeted him, threatening him and his family repeatedly, the Mail on Sunday reports.

Recently, Tom attended the premiere of the film in Los Angeles and it was there that the bitterest anti-Scientology group Anonymous openly manifested against the actor. Since then, the star has been living “terrified” for his life and the safety of his family, as he has already received several death threats, the same source informs us.

“The threats are perceived to be so great that the FBI has been alerted. Cruise is due to fly to London for the UK premiere on January 21. Tom is terrified. He doesn’t feel safe anywhere.” one source told the British magazine. The publication also points out that, while Tom has always been extremely demanding in terms of security, having reportedly built a $10 million underground bunker on his Colorado estate, this is actually the first time that he feels in real danger.

The same source also reveals, citing persons close to the family, that the situation has gone to such extremes that Tom and Katie are now living separately at different locations, commuting in between them in bomb-proof vehicles. As expected, the actor’s publicist was not immediately available for comment.

Nevertheless, this is not the first time that Tom Cruise is targeted by anti-Scientology groups. Early this year, the Anonymous group announced the beginning of its activity through a massive viral campaign threatening to bring the Church of Scientology down, no matter the means.

“You cannot hide; we are everywhere. Gradually as we merge our pulse with that of your ‘Church,’ the suppression of your followers will become increasingly difficult to maintain. Believers will wake, and see that salvation has no price. They will know that the stress, the frustration that they feel is not something that may be blamed upon Anonymous. Knowledge is free. We are Anonymous. We are Legion. We do not forgive. WE DO NOT FORGET. Expect us.” the group’s statement said at the time.
