14 DAY TRIAL // Scientific Linux Live CD is a bootable CD/DVD that runs Linux directly from CD/DVD without installing. This Live CD is based on Scientific Linux 4, which is recompiled from RedHat Enterprise Linux 4 sources.
Scientific Linux Live CD uses the Unification File System (unionfs) which allows read-only filesystem to behave as a writable one and squashfs providing on-the-fly decompression that allows to store 2GB software on a normal CD-ROM. The Live CD/DVD was build using modified scripts from www.linux-live.org.
The Scientific Linux Live CD/DVD can be used to setup a server for Diskless Client. The diskless clients will run Scientific Linux without a local Linux installation getting the operation system over the network (via NFS).
