“Wear Your Own Skin – Let Animals Keep Theirs,” reads one banner

Having already sent young women to shower in public or lie on the pavement whilst dressed as mermaids, PETA has now decided that it could not hurt to also have some scarcely dressed girls pretend to “rest” in giant shoeboxes.

In case anyone was wondering, this time the organization wants to send a message to all those who fancy leather shoes and leather jackets or belts.

As they put it, “There's nothing fashionable about tormenting cows and other animals on factory farms and skinning them alive in slaughterhouses.”

Furthermore, “With today's chic and comfortable synthetics and faux leather, it's easy for fashionistas with a shoe fetish to kick the leather habit.”

This protest is scheduled to take place today, on the southeast corner of Massachusetts and Ninth streets, Lawrence, so no images have yet made it online.

However, we did manage to find one picture taken during one previous such campaign, and chose to use it as head for this blog.
