Talk about this photospread and interview, which will be included in the upcoming issue of Details Magazine, marking the 30th anniversary, has been very intense these past weeks. Not only does it feature “Twilight” heartthrob Robert Pattinson, but it also comes with the very shots that have been deemed “controversial” by many a media outlets. Other than that, from the scans provided by ThinkingOfRob, it is also clear that this must be one of the most personal interviews Pattinson has ever given.

The glamour shots include a very dashing Pattinson with gorgeous female models in various degrees of undress, in very decadent and stylish surroundings. The accompanying lengthy interview should also bring a smile on the lips of many Pattinson fans, since it sheds light on aspects of his personal life never before discussed in an interview, while also painting him in a truly romantic light. Come to think of it, everything about Robert is romantic: an actor looking to make art and not money, a singer who would rather die than give up his dream of making music for the rest of his life, and a man who slips in and out of reveries, looking for some absolute truth that not even he can define.

“I can barely remember the last two years. Not like a haze of partying or anything like that. Just... it’s been crazy,” Pattinson begins by saying of the past couple of years of his life. And it’s true: in fact, “crazy” doesn’t even begin to cover it. Chased by fans and paparazzi, Pattinson lives most of his life in hotel rooms, as he said in previous interviews as well. The consequence of that: “I eat so much, I’m like a compulsive eater. I’ve been eating room service and I’m always really worried about it, so I choose like six things on the menu and eat them all,” he says.

“Twilight” has definitely changed things for this British star, some for the worse, some for the better. That’s not to say though that he has regrets, because being thus catapulted to international fame has allowed him to do things other actors can only dream of, opening countless doors for him and thus increasing his odds at actually becoming a great thespian. This would be Pattinson’s dream in just one word, as he also explains: becoming “great” – albeit the road there poses the question of whether it cheapens the experience of art.

“Before, I felt like I couldn’t break through anything, including myself. And now it feels a bit as though I’ve climbed along the side of my brain and am at least looking in. But I know it will take me at least another 10 years before I’m remotely satisfied with anything I do. But with acting you keep trying in the hopes you might be… great. But then I think, does wanting to be good or even great, or even just wanting to make art, cheapen the experience?” Pattinson states.
