Following an incident that took place earlier this month and a subsequent police investigation, “Scandal” actor Columbus Short has been slapped with a felony charge and an arrest warrant has been issued for felony aggravated battery with serious bodily injury on his name.

TMZ reports that the entire matter was caused by a restaurant brawl during which Short sucker punched another man and left him bloodied and unconscious for several minutes.

The 31-year old actor plays a crisis-management specialist by the name of Harrison Wright on the hit ABC drama “Scandal,” on Wednesday he found himself in a spot of another type of “scandal” when he knocked a man out cold during an engagement party for allegedly “mouthing off” at him.

The incident took place at Gabe's Bar and Grill in Los Angeles and the owner said that “[The fight] happened in the parking lot, but none of the employees saw what happened.” It seems that the attack left the victim with a broken nose and rendered him unconscious for several minutes as eyewitnesses reported he “looked dead.”

Insiders at the party said that both men were guests and that their argument started over some comments about money and how much each of them brought in. As things heated up, the victim allegedly shouted at the actor “You might be richer than me but I get my girls to buy me everything I want including your wife.”

That was the last thing the man got a chance to utter, because the next second, Short was already pummeling him. After the incident, the actor quickly left the bar and people were left amazed by the ferocity of the attack and how fast it happened.

What's worse is that people present at the scene are blaming Columbus of not stopping punching the man even after he lost consciousness, but climbed on top of him and continued to “rail on him.”

The charge of felony means that Columbus could be looking at a maximum sentence of four years in a state prison. A bond has been set but, at the moment, the actor has not turned himself in to police forces.

Sadly for Short, this isn't the first time he flies off the handle and assaults another man. There has been a previous incident in which he was involved back in March 2010, when he reportedly knocked out a man's teeth with just a single punch during an altercation at a gym.
