Instead of the video, users are told to install a piece of software

To celebrate its 10-year anniversary, Facebook has launched “Look Back,” a tool that allows users to create a short video of their activities on the social media network. Scammers are reportedly exploiting the tool’s popularity to deliver malicious software.

According to Cyberwarzone.com, cybercriminals are posting links to fake Look Back websites. These pages are designed to mimic the genuine Look Back Facebook page, but instead of playing the video, they instruct users to install something.

For the time being, I haven’t found any technical details on what’s being served, but CWZ says that it’s a piece of malware.

If you want to create your own Look Back video, make sure you do it on Facebook.com/lookback and not on some other website.

If you’re a victim of this attack, scan your computer with an updated security solution to ensure it’s not infected with anything.
