When the four girls, now full-grown women, of the HBO successful series SATC reunited again for the 2+- hour movie in 2008, fans were ecstatic. It was the reunion they had dreamed of for so many years, and it promised to bring back the glamour Carrie Bradshaw had accustomed them with. Now, amidst increasing talk of a sequel, another rumor comes to make their day, that Britney Spears herself will play a part in it.

In 2008, SATC saw Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Catrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon together again for more adventures in the fabulous world of fashion and men. They were not alone in there either, as Oscar-winning Jennifer Hudson, the singer who impressed the world with her voice, also had a small part as Carrie’s assistant. Probably to continue that tradition, Sarah reportedly wants Spears to be cast for a part in SATC 2, several sources say.

The rumor was ignited, it seems, when Heat Magazine ran a story in which it was claimed that some insider had heard the actress telling her friends that, if a sequel was to be made, then Britney Spears should have a part in it – in more or less words. “My idea is to have someone like Britney Spears move to New York as my cousin or niece, and Carrie would show her the ropes.” Sarah Jessica Parker reportedly said.

While this would seem far-fetched, it could be done – and with awesome results nonetheless. Britney is no stranger to the camera herself, even if her acting is highly questionable, as many critics have pointed out. Her 2002 “Crossroads,” dealing with the story of a teenager much like herself, was a bomb in terms of reviews, but it still performed spectacularly at the box-office, thanks to the singer's huge fanbase at the time.

Movie-oriented publications are now saying that, should Britney be asked and accept to star in SATC 2, this could actually turn out to be a move that would pave the way for many other sequels. It’s not that the 2008 movie did not do well enough to warrant a sequel (with a budget of $65 million, SATC grossed $415 million worldwide), but that, by bringing in Spears along for the ride, it would also appeal to an audience who is not familiar with the concept of the series, it is being said.

Since this is nothing but a rumor now – the SATC sequel has not even been confirmed yet – make sure you stay tuned here for more details.
