A more silent video card

The Sapphire version of the PCI Express ATI X800 XL entitled Sapphire Ultimate X800XL is aimed mainly at consumers and system integrators who desire a competitive graphical solution but also a more silent one.

For achieving this, Sapphire proposes a special cooler, more competitive than traditional solutions but in the same time "quieter".

Unlike previous models based on X800 which employed cooling solutions proposed by Arctic Cooling and presented by Sapphire at CeBIT , the cooler is the aluminum version of the Zalman VF700.

Sapphire announced Ultimate X800XL during the same event. The price recommended by Sapphire is 349 euros.

The new Sapphire Ultimate X800XL is based on the technology ATIX16 with 16 pixel pipelines and the connectivity is ensured by DVI, VGA and S-Video.

Equipped with 256 MB of GDDR3 memory, Sapphire Ultimate X800XL has clock frequencies of 400MHz (processor) and 490MHz (memory), which can be adjusted using the Redline software.

This card, as well as other products from the Sapphire series, is delivered with the last version of ATI Catalyst Control Centerand and Power DVD Player 5.0.

Although Sapphire announced a new way of choosing the games delivered along with the video cards (the package includes a DVD with several titles which can be played for maximum one hour after which the user will decide what game to activate), this didn't apply to Ultimate X800XL. The video card will be delivered along with two games Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and Prince of Persia.

Sapphire didn't make any comments about the existence of any AGP version of the Ultimate X800XL.
