Since a certain new mainstream video controller is going to be released by a certain company quite soon, partners of said company's rival are, predictably, bringing out new cards of their own.

For weeks now, the web has been abuzz with rumors and reports of NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce GTX 560 Ti graphics card.

The Ti moniker has been adopted after years of not being used as a means to differentiate between the Santa Clara, California-based company's high end cards and the more affordable ones (mainstream and low-end).

The soon-to-be-launched card will be the first mainstream member of the 500 series, and some custom models, like PNY's, have been set up for pre-order already.

As a counter to what is said to be a very powerful board, Sapphire has now brought forth a pair of AMD-based Radeon HD 6870 controllers.

One of them is the Radeon HD 6870 Toxic edition, while the other bears the name of Radeon HD 6870 Vapor-X.

The Toxic is the more powerful of the two, while the other one settles for less performance in exchange for a more affordable price.

For those that want numbers, the Vapor-X has the GPU operating at 900 MHz and the 1 GB of GDDR5 VRAM at 4,200 MHz, while the Toxic works at 970 MHz and 4,600 MHz, respectively.

Besides this they can be seen as quite similar, one common trait being their Black Diamond chokes.

The newcomers also feature 1,120 stream processors each, on-board 10-phase power control and a vapor chamber-based cooler.

Finally, connectivity with various displays is ensured by dual-DVI, mini DisplayPort and HDMI outputs, while CrossFireX and all other technologies are, naturally, present.

Those that want to buy either of the products should be able to already pre-order them for 222.24 Euro (Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 Toxic) and 217.56 Euro (Vapor-X).
