The small plane took off from the airport in Hailey, Idaho

A plane crashed at Santa Monica airport in California, on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013. The plane is a small, twin-engine Cessna Citation and the number of passengers aboard is not known at this point.

The video report above captures the aftermath of the crash. The small aircraft smashed into a hangar on airport grounds.

According to NBC News, the Cessna took off from Hailey, Idaho, and crash landed in Santa Monica at around 6:20 p.m. local time. The Santa Monica Fire Department was on site, as the wreckage caught on fire.

Officials identify the plane as a luxury business jet, usually bought by celebrities and corporations.

The Hailey airport it took off from is used by residents of the Sun Valley and the Sun Valley alpine regions, which house exclusive skiing resorts.
