Since their introduction, Sandy Bridge processors managed to make their way into a wide array of computer systems, from laptops to desktops, Puget Systems being the latest manufactures to add Intel's second generation Core CPUs to their machines.

According to the company's press release, the new Sandy Bridge processors will become available in five desktop models.

These are called Echo, Deluge, Obsidian, Serenity and Sprint, and can cover a wide range of computing needs, from gaming to HTPC duty.

“We are excited to use this new technology across our product line." said Jon Bach, president of Puget Systems.

"Not only are we offering more performance for the dollar, but Sandy Bridge allows us to push our systems even more cool and quiet than before," concluded the company's rep.

Sandy Bridge is Intel's codename for their second generation Core processor architecture that improves the performance of the previous Clarkdale chips, as we found out in our review of the Core i5 2500K and Core i7 2600K.

Unlike their predecessors, these chips pack an integrated graphics core on the same die as the CPU and feature additional media accelerators like the Quick Sync technology which speeds up video transcoding by moving it to a dedicated part of the chip.

Further increasing the processor's power is Intel's second generation Turbo Boost technology that adjust the CPU's clock speed according to the tasks run.

Puget Systems is a custom computer builder that is operated primarily through its website and sells a wide array of computers including laptops, desktops, and servers.

The company was founded in 2000 and has become well regarded among computer enthusiasts thanks to their quiet machines that use high quality fans.

These new processor options are already available for purchase on the company's website, in pre-configured as well as in custom built desktops.
