To focus on her recently adopted son, Louis

Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock has recently become a mom, adopting a 3-month boy she named Louis, to remind her of Louis Armstrong. In light of the cheating scandal she got dragged into once Jesse James’ mistresses started selling their story to the media, the divorce and the adoption, Sandra is taking some time off, she says in a statement cited by IMDB.

The move is not necessarily due to the scandal that saw her husband’s dirty laundry aired in public, the movie e-zine points out, as Sandra had stated before that she was in no rush to start new projects. A couple of months ago, for instance, she said she wanted to wait until the Oscars to see what projects she’d do next, so it could very well be that this was planned in advance, as she adopted Louis shortly after the Academy Awards ceremony.

Be that as it may, fans now have confirmation that they won’t be seeing Sandra for a while, as she focuses on her new family and puts her career on second place. “All I know is that I want to be able to enjoy being a mom. Doing all the things moms get to do, outside in the sun, in the world. The career will have to wait for a bit. I don’t want to step into that world until I can find out what room I left my armor in. You need tough skin to be in this business. I don’t have tough skin right now and I don’t want it,” Sandra says.

This statement is just as honest and wonderfully worded as her interview with People magazine, which came out late last week and in which the star introduced her son to the world and spoke about the divorce. She did not want to break all ties with Jesse James, even though his cheating broke her heart, because he was a great father to her kids and she hoped he could be so for the baby they once planned to adopt together as well, she said.

“To say that I am changed is an understatement. But that might not be a bad thing. I have learned a lot about what I am and what I am not. But the most important thing to me was to protect and know my truth. And the truth is simple. The things I hold most dear are things that could not have happened without Jesse. Maybe I needed this rug yanked out from under me so publicly so that I had no choice but to look at what I needed to look at, both inside and out. And maybe [her late mother] Helga had some hand in this. She knows how stubborn I am. Maybe I needed this to happen so that I could be the very best mother to Louis. We wouldn’t know the sweet moments in life unless we had the pain. And painfully, I’m going to miss so much,” Sandra told People about her life without Jesse.
