Secure Digital (SD) is the normal standard of flash storage cards, along with its variations. There are others though, some of which, like CompactFlash in this case, can be better in certain circumstances.

SanDisk has just proven this by releasing a 256 GB CompactFlash Extreme Pro card with support for 4K recording.

That means the newcomer has enough room for long hours of footage in 3840 x 2560 pixels resolution, as well as the needed writing speed for it.

More specifically, the writing speed is of 65 MB/s at minimum and transfer speed (reading) of 160 MB/s at maximum. Furthermore, when capturing photos, the top speed can be of 140 MB/s, even in continuous/burst modes.

Clearly, this new product will find a good spot in the hearts of professional video camera owners.

The price of the new SanDisk 256 GB Extreme Pro CompactFlash card is $1,809.99 / €1,362.
