Leading provider of in flash memory cards SanDisk Corporation announced today the launch of the first 32 gigabyte (GB) SanDisk microSDHC card, the world’s highest-capacity removable memory card available at the moment for mobile phones. The new microSDHC card comes with a high level of freedom and flexibility when it dealing with storing, sending and enjoying the digital content, the company notes.

“With the large volume of photos, videos and music that consumers create and carry around, a high-capacity memory card is a must-have component of today’s smartphone,” said Sanjay Mehrotra, president and chief operating officer, SanDisk. “This is the highest-capacity card of its type, and SanDisk is pleased to be the first to ship such an advanced product. This marks yet another important first in our innovative history in the flash memory industry.”

According to SanDisk, the need for larger amounts of storage was already felt in today's smartphones, which have evolved a lot from the first simple phones. The handsets are used as mobile offices, entertainment devices, video recorders, GPS receivers, and Internet navigation solutions, which proves that the highly-versatile 32GB SanDisk microSDHC card is a great addition for those who need storage-intensive features on their mobile phones.

The 32GB SanDisk microSDHC card is also expected to offer mobile network operators and handset manufacturers the possibility to include enough storage on their smartphones to meet the needs of users. The SanDisk microSDHC cards also come in capacities of 2, 4, 8 and 16GB, and are already whipping in volume, the company notes.

At the same time, the company also revealed that the new 32GB SanDisk microSDHC card was set to become available for purchase as soon as today on SanDisk.com U.S. and European e-commerce sites, and that it would become available all around the world next month. The solution features a 5-year limited warranty and is being priced at $199.99.
