Samsung Electronics states that to cut costs related to research and production, but also to retail faster a large size LCD, certain conditions and standards agreed by the entire industry have to be met. The statements belong to Lee Sang-wan, head of the LCD department within Samsung.

Samsung is one of the biggest producers of large size LCD for computers but also for TV sets. They have announced the standard sizes for the new types of LCDs with the purpose of cutting production related costs.

Samsung has decided the suitable dimensions for the standardization of LCDs should be: 40, 46, 52 and 57 inches.

Lee claims this new generation of displays will outperform current LCDs and the TV sets built using LCDs will become the most employed viewing systems around the world. Actually, it is predicted that the entire digital entertainment system from a household will be built around these giant displays. The new Samsung solutions could also be endowed with other features besides the simple receiving of video-TV signal and will benefit from wide range of multimedia functions and services.

To achieve the 100 million LCD TV objective by 2010, the LCD producing industry should come up with some standards related to the dimension of the LCDs.
