The American subsidiary of Samsung Electronics unveiled a new line of 24 and 25.5-inch LCD monitors primarily aiming at the entertainment and the commercial sectors. Both LCD displays are being showcased during the Macworld Conference & Expo.

The monitors come with full 1080 pixel high-definition resolution and integrate professional multimedia speakers in their design. They are part of the successful SyncMaster series of computer displays and can connect via VGA, DVI and HDMI links, depending on the signal source. The SyncMaster 2693HM and 2493HM monitors are ideal for listening to music, gaming, or watching movies.

Samsung's 2693HM and 2493HM monitors are seated on a four-way adjustable stand that allows for fine tuning of height, swivel and tilt, while including pivot functions. This way, the monitor can be adjusted in multiple directions, even when its stand has been fastened onto a firm support.

Both monitors come with a dynamic contrast ratio of 10,000:1, which offers the user life-like image quality. The 5-millisecond gray-to-gray response time eliminates blurring or ghosting, and the high resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 makes it the ideal candidate when it comes to gaming.

"Consumers are increasingly turning to computer monitors as an entertainment and multimedia solution, both in the office and in the living room," said Young Bae, product manager, display group, Samsung Electronics America, Inc. "By combining built-in speakers with exceptional image quality and ergonomic capabilities, this series of displays is an excellent choice for any personal and professional user who seeks a superior multimedia experience and advanced motion graphics."

The monitors come with a three-year limited warranty, including the backlight. The 2493HM version is available for an estimative retail price of $599, while the larger model is sold for as much as $699.
