It really does look like Samsung is aiming big with its newest string of product releases, as it has unveiled not just new laptops and displays, but also a full line of Blu-ray players as part of its Smart collection.

Samsung is a company that deals in a great variety of electronics, like PCs, multimedia players of various kinds, mobile phones, etc.

Not long ago, it even came forth and made not one or two, but several official announcements, each one dealing with a certain, full collection of new releases in a certain segment.

Among other things, 15 new plasma TVs were detailed, as were a bunch of laptops for enterprise and education, plus an ultrathin Series 9.

It appears that the same company put together a full set of Blu-ray players as well, seven to be exact, which will start selling this month, except for one, set for April release.

They are part of the Smart Blu-ray series and can play videos easily, five of them even going as far as integrating support for 3D playback.

As for the actual looks, the company chose a slot-in build, symmetry and thinness. In other words, all functions are placed in the middle, for convenience and ease of use, while the slot-in design boosts efficiency and grants silent operation since no moving parts are needed.

“Samsung’s commitment to innovation and design is evident,” said John Revie, senior vice president of Home Entertainment, Samsung Electronics America, Inc.

“We want more people to enjoy the richest, most immersive entertainment experience that is possible with today’s technology. These Smart Blu-ray players give consumers a way to easily upgrade their existing TVs to access Samsung Smart TV services.”

The press release describes the newcomers in greater detail and even mentions that the Smart Hub feature is present (allows content searching and access to the Samsung Apps HDTV-based application store).

They all should show up in stores this month, for prices of $149.99 to $349.99, except for the minimalistic BD-D7000 (set for April), which has a hidden disk slot (pops up from the center of the player), a cube design and a silver-colored metal casing.
