Samsung likes Android a lot. The tech giant has put up the OS on its smartphones and tablets and ultimately on some of its mirrorless camera products.

But guess what, Samsung is extending that range to include, well, printers. Because even if you don’t own an Android mobile device, you still deserve to get a taste of the Android experience.

Present at the IFA 2014 tradeshow in Berlin, Samsung took the opportunity to unveil 10 (!) new multi-function printers (Multi Xpress) that come with a touch screen display and offer Android as the primary user-interface.

Basically, you have a tablet residing on the side of the printer connected to the overall MultiXpress system and acting as a control center.

Samsung hasn't provided us with the specs of the tablets, but we know the printers rely on a 1.0GHz dual-core processor, which is an improvement from the previous generation which only relied on a single-core CPU.

The slew of 10 printers arrives with different output speed, but they have some things in common.

All run Android, of course, and come with a dual-scan ADF which means users can perform double-sided scans (at 100 images per minute for colored docs and 120 images per minute for black&white).

However, out of the 10 new models only the X4300 series comes with color printing support. Surely if you don’t want to take advantage of Android offered onboard, you can still print using your smartphone or tablet.

Apart from the X4300 series, Samsung is offering the K4350 bunch, which consists of three A3 models (K4350LX, K4300LX and K4250RX) which have an output speed of 35, 30 and 25 ppm The first model has a printing capacity of up to 85,000 pages per month with 35,000 pages for toner.

Moving on, we have the M5370 series which is also monochrome, coming with two A4 models with output speeds of 53 and 43ppm respectively. The series can print up to 300,000 pages per month with 30,00o pages per toner.

Last but not least comes the M4580 series which is also made up of two models with an output speed of 45ppm. The duo can print up to 200,000 pages per month and 40,000 pages per toner.

So imagine having a whole stack of papers you need to make copies of, which can take like forever. Well thanks to Samsung, you can now play a little game of Angry Birds or watch a quick vid on YouTube while you wait on your results. Hopefully, production stats won't go down the drain for firms taking advantage of the new Multi Xpress printers.
