Galaxy S II, the latest flagship Android-based mobile phone from the South Korean handset vendor Samsung, has recently seen a twin on the market, the Galaxy Z, which is now said to be on its way to the market in the UK under a slightly different name, as Galaxy R.

While there is no difference between the Galaxy R and the Galaxy Z, they both differ from the Galaxy S II in terms of hardware.

To be more precise, while the Galaxy S II landed on shelves with a dual-core 1.2GHz application processor from Samsung inside, the other two sport an Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core CPU, with each core clocked in at 1GHz.

At the same time the Galaxy R is on its way to the UK market with a 4.2-inch Super LCD screen on the front, unlike the Galaxy S II, which came with a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus panel.

The photo snapper on the back of Galaxy R was also lowered a little bit, now down to 5-megapixel and only with support for HD 720p video recording, unlike the Galaxy S II's 8MP camera that offers full HD recording of videos.

Although the specs do not bring it in line with the Galaxy S II, the Galaxy R would still prove a great option for those looking for a powerful device that won't leave their pockets completely empty.

The handset also comes with support for 3G networks, as well as with WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities, and a built-in GPS receiver.

The Android-based phone would also come with 8GB of internal memory, and with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

For the time being, specific info on the release date or pricing of this device did not emerge, but rumor has it that the end of July or early August should bring the handset to shelves.
