Word that Samsung was planning two new mid-range smartphones, the Galaxy J7 and J5, popped up online for the first time in April. Then shortly afterwards, the two phones got certified by the Chinese regulatory commission TENAA.

And this week brings us fresh information related to Sammy’s upcoming Galaxy J smartphones. The folks at Sam Mobile have somehow dug up the devices’ official manuals, which reveal an interesting detail.

It appears that Samsung is planning to port the TouchWiz software we saw on the Galaxy S6 to the new Galaxy J7 and J5. What’s more, the phones will be able to take advantage of some features that got introduced with the advent of Galaxy S6, including the Smart Manager app (for managing RAM and storage) and other things like wide selfie mode in the camera app and support for FM radio.

Hopefully, Samsung will manage to optimize the new, snappier TouchWiz interface so that it can run appropriately on the new mid-range devices.

For those who have been unaware of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy J7 and Galaxy J5 smartphones, here’s a quick recap of their specs.

The J7 is poised to arrive with a 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution, while the Galaxy J5 will take advantage of a smaller 5-inch HD (720p) screen.

Both phones have 8MP cameras on the back with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, as well as secondary 5MP selfie snappers up in front.

In the hardware department, the Galaxy J7 will be fueled by a 1.4GHz octa-core processor equipped with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, while the Galaxy J5 comes with a slightly lower 1.2GHz octa-core processor.

More than that, both Galaxy J smartphones arrive with LTE support and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 64GB).

For now, we can’t offer you any details about pricing or availability, but as more information about the two devices pops out and we get closer to the official announcement, these details will become available.
