Google has been long rumored to be planning the release of a new Nexus device, one that will bring to the market the upcoming Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

operating system, and some more info on this device started to emerge.

Apparently, the new Google phone will arrive on shelves at more wireless carriers than before, it will be made by Samsung, the same as the last one did, and might be nothing more than an improved version of the Nexus S.

By improved, we mean that it will be both a bit larger than the already available device, and that it will also pack slightly upgraded hardware.

The upcoming device was reportedly spotted into the wild already, at the Verizon Developer's conference in Las Vegas, and is expected to arrive on shelves sometime in October.

This means that the phone in question might be the DROID Prime phone that was rumored recently to land exclusively at Verizon as the carrier's own flavor of Nexus Prime.

Some of those who had the chance to have a look at the device suggest that it seemed larger than the Nexus S, though no photos that could confirm this have been taken.

Apparently, the new mobile phone might be released with an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, as well as with a 2MP camera on the front, for video calling.

Moreover, the handset is expected to land on shelves with MHL with HDMI, as well as with NFC connectivity (Near Field Communications).

Rumor has it that Samsung will also pack a dual-core Texas Instruments OMAP chip inside it, and that both GSM and CDMA connectivity capabilities will be available for users.

The surprising part in this story is the fact that this device was said to be running under Google's Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread OS, although the phone was said to be arriving on shelves with Ice Cream Sandwich on board.

This might be a clear indicator that the device in question is actually the DROID Prime headed for Verizon, though we should wait for official confirmation on it to emerge.
