A subscription-based solution to complement Samsung's upcoming MP3 players

Samsung Electronics has revealed through a press release that the digital music service will initially be available in the United Kingdom, Germany and France, but that the partnership with MusicNet will be expanding to cover the European and Asian continents. The upcoming service and additional online stores will complement Samsung's forthcoming MP3 portable media players. Samsung customers will be able to tap an online media resource of in excess of 2 million licensed music items. The copyrighted content from over 40,000 labels and record companies, will be provided via subscription based downloads. Samsung revealed that the subscriptions will be accompanied by the delivering of a software platform for media file management.

"Listening to digital music has transcended the individual experience and now empowers consumers to bridge generations and share their experience with others," said Seungsoo Park, Vice President of Samsung Electronics Digital AV division, Digital Media Business. "Our forthcoming K5 media player, which will be available later this year, will offer consumers an exciting new way to listen to and experience digital music on-the-go."
