Last week, Microsoft started to roll-out the first software software update for handsets running under its new Windows Phone 7 operating system, and various issues with some handsets emerged. The company announced this week that those problems were solved, but it seems that the update is not issues-free, the latest reports on the matter point out.

The mobile phones that were hit by problems with the first Windows Phone 7 update came from Samsung, and the same devices are now said to experience various problems when it comes to installing the software.

Apparently, some Samsung Windows Phone 7 users trying to update their handsets to the new firmware version get the error code 800705B4 displayed during the process.

The issue is reportedly related to some drivers, and might have nothing to do with the software update itself.

In short, at one point during the installation of the new software, the Windows Phone 7 device would reboot, and enter the “update mode” while being connected to the computer via a USB cable.

At this point, the computer would recognize the new hardware and install the necessary driver, but the process fails.

In a recent tweet, WindowsPhoneSupport announced that they are aware of the said error code, and that they are already working on finding a solution for the problem.

Moreover, they recommend that users who plan on upgrading their Samsung devices through the Windows Phone Connector on Mac OS X should hold off, since the phones might be rendered unusable.

Omnia 7 smartphones are said to have been those to suffer the most from this issue, as they would “freezes on the screen with the image stating you shouldn't eject and Windows Phone.”

Hopefully, Microsoft would manage to find a solution to this problem in the shortest period of time possible, and they would also figure what needs to be done to recover the harmed devices.
