It is produced on the 20nm manufacturing process technology

It is one thing to say you are ready to start making chips on a whole new manufacturing technology, and another to actually do it. Fortunately, Samsung isn't pulling any punches.

Since the DRAM industry is back on the rise, much to consumers' chagrin (prices are going up), Samsung is eagerly doing all it can to benefit from that.

The latest update on that front is that Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has begun manufacturing 20 nm 4 Gb LPDDR3 mobile DRAM.

It supposedly gives mobile devices the same performance as on actual desktop PCs, which is no small feat.

Data can be transmitted at up to 2,133 Mbps per pin, which enables the streaming of three Full HD videos at once.

Compared to 30nm LPDDR3 DRAM, the new chips are 30% faster and 20% more energy efficient.
