One of the biggest problems in the way of widespread 3D HDTV adoption is represented by the lack of suitable content, but it seems that Samsung's quite keen on doing something about, starting with the home Korean market.

Given its status (Samsung is, after all, one of the world's top manufacturers of 3D viewing solutions, including Blu-ray players and HDTVs), it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that the Korean company has tried its best in order to come up with a solution that will enable customers who've already opted for their 3D-capable TVs to not feel somewhat “cheated” out of their money.

So, in order to mitigate the still rather widespread lack of native 3D content, Samsung has decided to launch, just in Korea, for the time being, a video on demand (VOD) service, capable of streaming 3D movie to all of the company's 3D-capable Smart TV sets.

Given the fact that such a service requires a very serious content partnership in place, Samsung inked a deal with DreamWorks, that will be providing, beside 3D movies, a couple of concerts recorded in 3D format, as well as movie trailers.

However, it seems that the range of content to be made available via this service will be much wider, also apparently including all sorts of educational clips for children, dedicated kids' programming, etc.

And since we've decided to leave the best for last, we'll have to mention that this 3D video on demand service won't be Korea only, Samsung promising to also become accessible in Europe and the US as well, at some point in the near future.

Of course, all we can say right now is that we really hope ol' Sammy will live up to its word and bring this service to Europe, not to mention the (rather faint) hope that other manufacturers will decide to do the same on the future.
