Once in a while, a product will be so well-developed that organizations tasked with testing will find it appropriate to honor it with an award or another, and it is this very thing that occurred with Samsung's Series 9 notebook.

The Samsung Series 9 was originally announced at CES 2011, back in January, and has great advantages in terms of outdoor readability compared to most of its peers.

The main asset is a higher than usual luminance, meaning that bright outdoor environments can't easily overpower it.

“This achievement by Samsung is a leading example of what the TCO Certified Edge program sets out to reward: high-performance and eco-design that goes beyond the mainstream,” said CEO of TCO Development, Soren Enholm.

“By combining the two without compromise, Samsung has shown that it is possible to deliver an exceptional user experience while also maintaining its commitment to green design.”

The other factor that contributed to the gaining of the award is the fact that no key performance or environmental features were sacrificed.

“It is a great honor to get TCO Certified Edge and build a leadership in mobile PC industry with our Notebook Series 9.” said Kyuho Uhm, senior vice president of the IT Solutions Business at Samsung Electronics.

“The notebook’s SuperBright Plus display is two times brighter than conventional displays, as well as its vibrant color reproduction (16 million colors) and Super Contrast ratio (1,300:1), make it one of the most beautiful notebook displays on the market. We are creating the best in display and offering our customers a complete and comprehensive notebook that meets all of their needs within one premium device.”

Although unveiled months ago, orders only became possible a couple of weeks back, for a price that isn't that accessible to most people. Those interested need only visit this page.
