The market for computer monitors has just become a tiny bit larger, now that Samsung has officially launched the Series 7 SC770 and Series 7 SC750 liquid crystal displays.

There are three monitors in total. One would think that the SC770 line would get more members, but that's not the case.

While the SC770 newcomer, called S24C770, only comes in a diagonal of 24 inches, the SC750 comes in both 24 inches (S24C750P) and 27 inches (S27C750P).

All of them have a native resolution of 1902 x 1080 pixels, Full HD as it were, and an aspect ratio of 16:9 (cinematic).

They also get a brightness of 250 cd/m2 (300 on the 27-inch model), viewing angles of 178/178 degrees, a response time of 5ms, two HDMI inputs (each) and a glossy black frame held up by a metallic silver stand.

As for the dynamic contrast ratio, it is supposed to be in the millions upon millions (mega), while the static is 1,000:1.

That said, the Series 7 SC770 Touch Monitor is the most noteworthy of the trio even though it isn't the largest. And that's because it is Samsung's first consumer multi-touch display. It boasts 10-finger multitouch input and the Anti-Finger Film technology.

"As the market for devices continues to grow rapidly, consumers are expecting more in terms of performance, convenience and interactive functionality," said Mike Abary, senior vice president of consumer IT product marketing at Samsung Electronics America.

"Samsung is building on our celebrated design heritage and expanding consumer options with our newest display lineup, specifically with Samsung's new Series 7 Touch Monitor. Users will find a differentiated touch-control experience through improved multimedia functionality, immersive viewing angles and innovative design."

Samsung's Series 7 SC770 Touch Monitor is selling for $599.99 / €458.64 – 599.99, while the 24-inch and 27-inch SC750 ship for $249 / €191.21 – 249 and $379 / €290.65 – 379, respectively.
