Samsung’s Galaxy Note Edge is not just another high-end smartphone. The smartphone featuring a curved display is a hard-to-come-by device, as Samsung announced that it wouldn’t be launched globally.

Despite the company’s belief that the Galaxy Note Edge won’t be so popular among Android users, the smartphone does seem to be a success even before going on sale in major markets.

Initially launched in South Korea last month, Samsung announced the Galaxy Note Edge wouldn’t be released in more than 1 million units.

In the meantime Samsung backtracked on its original statement and decided to bring it to the United States and more than 15 other countries in Europe.

Although customers will have to pay a high price for the Galaxy Note Edge, some think that it’s worth every penny. In order to make it easier for customers to decide whether or not the smartphone would fit their needs and to avoid getting a smartphone they will then regret, Samsung published a guide explaining some of the Galaxy Note Edge’s features.

So, if you’ve been wondering whether the Galaxy Note Edge’s curved screen is durable, then you should know that Samsung claims it has done more than 1,000 drop tests, as well as other durability tests, which are supposed to simulate the different angles of a possible fall because of the edge screen.

Also, the metal frame surrounding the chassis is what protects the edge screen, as when the device is dropped, it impacts this metal frame first.

Another interesting fact that you might want to know before making your purchase is whether or not the edge screen is prone to unintended touches.

Well, according to Samsung, the edge screen can make the difference between finger and palm, which is why you shouldn’t activate other apps from the side accidentally.

Moreover, the South Korean company claims its engineers implemented a grip solution that is capable of distinguishing intentional or unintentional gesture.

Samsung also says that potential customers shouldn’t be concerned of the rather unique design of the Galaxy Note Edge. Due to the fact that it features a curved display, it might look and feel unstable, which is why the company’s designers come up with a solution that makes sense.

Even though the Galaxy Note Edge features an asymmetric design, Samsung curved the left edge of the screen as well, which makes for a great change.

Last but not least, those who are still clueless on what the edge screen can actually do should read on as Samsung is also providing a thorough explanation on what all the fuss with the Galaxy Note Edge is about.

Well, it’s pretty simple, as the edge screen provides users with the quick access to apps, tools and notifications. That means that you won’t have to wake your smartphone up and check for any of these on the larger screen.

Currently, there aren’t too many apps supporting the edge screen, but Samsung released the SDK that allows devs to create more or adapt existing ones to the edge screen.

What do you think about Samsung’s top-tier Galaxy Note Edge smartphone? Do you think it’s worth all the money (€900 / $1,150)?
