Mobile phone carrier MetroPCS is reportedly gearing up for the launch of their very first smartphone that would offer customers the possibility to enjoy LTE connectivity on the company's network, which is already available in some major markets in the United States. No official announcement on this was made for the time being, but the device already emerged into the wild, and can be admired in a series of photos, courtesy of BGR.

The mobile phone in question sports the model number Samsung SCH-R910, and clearly shows the MetroPCS logo on the front.

What remains to be seen is whether it would indeed offer support for the wireless carrier's LTE network.

However, according to reports, it would actually sport both CDMA and LTE radios, while being powered by Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system.

The new mobile phone is also expected to come to shelves with Samsung’s TouchWiz interface thrown on top of that Android platform.

The specifications list of the new device would also include a 1GHz Hummingbird application processor, as well as a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back (basically packing almost the same hardware as Galaxy S).

Moreover, the new smartphone would also include a microSD memory card slot under the battery cover, so that one would be able to add more storage space into the mix.

No specific info on the rest of the hardware components of this device emerged for the time being, but some leaked details on its launch and price tag were unveiled.

Reportedly, the Samsung SCH-R910 should arrive at the wireless carrier sometime during the first quarter of the ongoing year, sporting a price tag ranging from $329 to $399 when made available.

Since nothing is confirmed officially on this, we'll take the news with a grain of salt, tough it might not be too long before MetroPCS makes a formal announcement, so keep an eye on this space for additional info.
