Samsung is one of the world's best-known manufacturers of high-end LCD TV sets but, in order to keep up with the ever-increasing competition in this specific market segment, it's been forced to constantly improve its product line-up and to come up with more advanced products and new technologies almost on a monthly basis. And the latest announcement from the company proves that they're not going to slow the pace at all, as the F81 series provides users with some very impressive features, including here a dynamic contrast ratio of up to 25,000:1.

The series includes, at least for now, two models, with panel sizes of 40 and 46 inches, respectively. Both LCDs feature the wineglass-shaped Bordeaux design that's common to most of Samsung's TV sets launched this year, but also quite an important number of improvements in the image processing and display areas.

Thus, beside the aforementioned dynamic contrast ratio, the new F81 LCDs provide native 1080p resolutions, as well as a 120Hz panel that helps reducing visual glitches in action scenes. Moreover, it comes packed with 8 speakers, capable of generating quite a high quality sound, although the use of a compatible home-theater system is, as always, recommended.

Another important selling point of the new LCDs is represented by their connectivity options. First of all, as just about every next-generation TV set, the devices feature HDMI interfaces with support for 24 frame playback, which is the native format in which motion pictures are shot. Moreover, the TV sets provide support for the ACAP data platform (implemented both in South Korea and the US), which allows the devices to engage in basic two-way interaction over digital TV without requiring a separate Internet link, but also provide a System Link option which allows the users to hook them up to the Internet in order to retrieve online information.

Unfortunately, the company has not provided any significant pricing or availability information for the time being, but the LCDs from the F81 series will most likely hit Korea first then reach the other parts of the world at some point during 2008.
