U.S. Cellular has just announced the upcoming availability of yet another Android smartphone, the Samsung Repp. The phone is still tagged with the “Coming Soon” label, but it should be available within days.

Samsung Repp is offered for free after $100 (73 EUR) mail-in rebate and a Belief Plan w/ Data Plus and/or a new two-year agreement.

However, Android enthusiasts who do not want to be tied by a long term contract can purchase the Samsung Repp for $140 (100 EUR) on prepaid.

The Repp is a budget-friendly handset aimed at customers who never owned an Android smartphone before, or it could make as an excellent second phone.

According to U.S. Cellular, “the Samsung Repp is a lightweight smartphone that makes a big statement. Equipped with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), it lives up to its reputation with more power and flexibility than ever before.”

Aside Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, Samsung Rep comes a range of pre-loaded apps, including Amazon Apps, Amazon Audible, Amazon Shopping, Books, City ID, Daily Perks, Think Free Office, Tone Room Deluxe, Your Navigator Deluxe, Uno and more.

It is also worth mentioning that the Samsung Repp provides users access to more than 250,000 apps via Android Market, allowing for more customization of the phone.

When it comes to hardware specification, the Repp is far from being impressive. The device is equipped with a 800 MHz processor and sports a 3.2-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen, as well as a 3-megapixel photo snapper on the back.

In addition, Samsung Repp embeds a microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB) and is delivered with a 2GB memory card in the sales package.

One of the strong points of the the phone, the 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery is rated by the manufacturer for up to 8 hours of talk time or up to 12.5 days of standby time.
