While some companies' roadmaps or future release plans don't come out exactly as planned, others have no qualms about revealing something to the public as long as it's on their terms. Public statements may be deliberately vague and often contain only a minimum of information so as to keep end-users' thoughts occupied. Samsung made one revelation recently, which, although not necessarily vague, handed out only so many facts and/or rumors so as to satisfy general curiosity. Basically, the company plans to enter the Tablet PC market next year and start using LED backlights in all of its monitors.

Seeing how tablet PCs have been getting attention, with various companies like Apple, Dell and others rumored to already be working on one, Samsung decided to get its own product out in the open during 2010. “We will have those products in the future or coming into next year,” Emmanuele Silanesu, the product marketing manager at Samsung Australia IT, said. She added that that touch capabilities would also be a focus during the following year.

“I don’t know if they’re more evolution than revolution, but certainly Q1 will have touch, not only in notebooks but also in monitors. I’m pretty sure that coming into the middle to the end of next year, LED will be the norm across the range,” the product marketing manager shared.

Besides the rumored tablet-development plans and the company's intention to completely cross over to LED-backlit monitors by the end of 2010, Samsung is also reportedly working on 3D technology, with Silanesu even hinting at possible endeavors by NVIDIA towards creating a technology capable of converting 2D content into 3D.

“I can’t say too much more on this but I believe developments are underway and it may be announced in the new year,” Silanesu explained. These developments were revealed on Monday in a report by Current.
