NVIDIA took the chance provided by this year's CeBIT expo in Hanover, Germany, to officially showcase its next-generation ION graphics for netbooks, nettops and all-in-one systems. Rather than being a complete platform, however, this new product is mainly a graphics solution that aims to enable advanced multimedia capabilities on such devices. As such, the Pine Trail platform is still going strong, with a new netbook based on it, known as the Go N315 from Samsung, being already on its way.

The actual product specifications of the device may not be all that surprising. It is powered by the Intel Atom N450 central processing unit, which is paired with 1GB DDR2 memory, the Intel GMA3150 integrated graphics and 250GB of storage provided by a 5,400 SATA hard drive.

In addition, the upcoming device features HD (High Definition) audio with SRS 3D sound effect and a 10.1-inch WSVGA, non-Gloss, LED-backlit display with a maximum resolution of 1,024 x 600. As far as connectivity and I/O options are concerned, the netbook comes with a 1.3-megapixel webcam, 3W stereo speakers, 10/100 LAN, 802.11 bg / n WiFi, RJ45 LAN, a VGA output, a 3-in-1 card reader, as well as headphone and microphone jacks. The laptop even has three USB 2.0 ports and a four-cell battery.

According to the company, the Go N315 netbook will supposedly be able to last for up to 4.5 hours on a single battery charge. Furthermore, the mobile PC comes pre-installed with the Microsoft Windows 7 Starter operating system, Adobe Reader, Microsoft Works and even the Times Reader 2.0 application. As its name implies, this app enables users to read the New York Times, although a subscription is required.

The netbook has already been set up for pre-order on Amazon and full information on it may be found on its official product page.
